From Browsing Centre Owner to Organic Farmer: Mr. Guruvaran’s Inspiring Journey into Sustainable Farming
Meet Mr. Gurubaran, a former browsing centre owner with over 20 years in the business. A self-proclaimed computer geek, he spent 8-10 hours a day in an air-conditioned room, leading to a sedentary lifestyle and health issues.
His life took a dramatic turn when he discovered Nammazhavar, a pioneer in organic farming. After an intensive one-week organic farming training, he was shocked to learn about the harmful pesticides and chemicals commonly used in conventional farming. This realization sparked a mission to find agricultural land and embrace sustainable farming practices.
Determined to start his own organic farm, he began an extensive farmland search across South India, even reaching Kanyakumari. However, finding a budget-friendly farmland was challenging. Most real estate deals required purchasing bulk farmland (50-100 acres), far exceeding his budget of ₹5 lakhs per acre.
His persistence paid off when he met Mr. Jayachandran, owner of Green Garden Group, in Vandavasi.
After exploring multiple farmlands, he finally found the perfect agricultural land that matched his budget and vision. Now, he has begun cultivating the land, raising Shenbagam (cow) and Lakshmi (calf), and actively plowing for plantation.
His goal is to develop the organic farmland within five years, with guidance from Mr. Jayachandran. He advocates for pesticide-free farming and promotes the Kootu Pannai Thittam (cycle farming method) to ensure sustainable agriculture. He firmly believes in the principle:
“First, farm for your own needs and health—then think of business.”
Mr. Gurubaran also utilizes biogas technology, converting cow dung into cooking gas and electricity, making his farm more eco-friendly and self-sufficient.
His inspiring journey proves that investing in agricultural land is not just a real estate opportunity but a step towards a healthier and sustainable future. If you're considering farmland investment in Tamil Nadu, organic farming methods, or want to adopt a self-sufficient farming lifestyle, Mr. Gurubaran’s story is proof that determination and the right guidance from Green Garden Group can make it happen.
